About Us

North Queensland Potters’ Assoc Inc

A small group of dedicated potters began NQPA in 1972 and we have just celebrated our 40th anniversary. We are a not-for-profit association and aim to promote pottery throughout North Queensland and act as a catalyst for the pottery community in the region.

Owning our Studio at 15 Flowers Street, Railway Estate provides members with the opportunity to come along and pot, exchange ideas and use the facilities. We have a very well equipped studio, with electric, gas and a soda kiln, wheels and general pottery equipment. We provide an up to date library with current journals, a permanent ceramic collection on display, a gallery for members to display and sell their work, we sell clay and keep members informed with a monthly newsletter.

Regular pottery classes are run weekly and we hold workshops and seminars with national and international potters. We have recently partnered with Pinnacles Gallery, Townsville City Council, to organise the Townsville Ceramic Awards biennially and the 2016 North Queensland Ceramic Awards was exhibited at Pinnacles Gallery 11 March – 1 May 2016.
